HAITI PRESCHOOL OPENS OCTOBER 2021

Even in the midst of political, financial, social and Covid turmoil God still moves!  On October 4th, 2021 the new preschool in Drouin, Haiti opened the doors for the first day of class.  The preschool building has three classrooms, bathrooms, a kitchen and a dining room.  On this glorious day 90 preschoolers walked through the doors of the new building and into a future that is yet to be written because of the gospel of Jesus Christ and an opportunity for an education.  Thanks to Everyone who has prayed and financially supported this endeavor!

HURRICANE IDA DIASTER RELIEF

Stepstones was able to respond to assist in disaster relief following Hurricane Ida. We were invited in by God through Jason Carrol, Pastor of Cornerstone Christian Center in Marrero, Louisiana. We arrived Sunday September 19th and immediately joined in a mattress distribution in a trailer park which had been flooded during the storm. When we arrived, we discovered the park was still flooded with over a foot of water. The residents were extremely appreciative of the mattresses, sheets and pillows. Before receiving the mattresses they had been sleeping on the subflooring of their trailer.

On Monday we worked in Jean Lafitte, Louisiana, gutting a 3 bedroom, 2 bath manufactured house that had four feet of water in it during the storm. As we served this lady, we were able to salvage some precious keep sakes, insurance cards and a few photos. When we gave these items to her at the end of the day she broke down crying because some of these had been given to her by her deceased mother.

Tuesday and Wednesday we spent removing four inches of mud, pews, carpet, platform furniture and sheetrock up to eight feet. The church had over four feet of water in it during the storm. God’s provision for the team was experienced as two skid steers arrived as we were deciding on the plan of attack. One skid steer pushed mud off the parking lot which was hidden by the mud and the other stayed all day moving pews and debris from the front steps of the church to the street. Thankful for the goodness and faithfulness of God!

Thursday was spent gutting a three bedroom, two bath, two large living area house for a grandmother. This house again had four feet of water in it during the storm. This lady lost everything, except a small jewelry box and some fine crystal glasses.

We want to thank God for allowing us the opportunity to serve hurting people in His Name! We are also thankful to those who went to serve, spoke on our behalf to raise the financial resources needed to respond in disaster relief. Thanks is given to Jason Carrol and the Body of Believers who we were able to work alongside of from Cornerstone Christian Center.

I would like to encourage anyone who has never responded in disaster relief to consider trusting God and giving a day or two or a week. There is an amazing unifying of people when they selflessly give themselves away especially when it is totally outside of a comfort zone. When we step out and depend on God we get to experience Him in a totally different manner. God is powerful to save, faithful to His Word, giver of all things good, Jehovah-Jireh the provider! Do you know Him? Do you trust Him?

CHURCHES WORKING TOGETHER

On Saturday August 28th, 16 men and women from 6 churches gathered to join hands to bless a family who had lost their father in May. We gathered at 8:00 a.m. and by 12:30 p.m. were enjoying a job well done, lunch, devotion time and prayer. God works best in unity and on this day a family was blessed by the unified effort to cut five oak trees and split and stack for fire wood. The wood will be used to minister to people in need this winter. Some will be sold and the money given to a ministry to build wheelchair ramps in this area. Thank you to the people who joined together to meet a need. Along the way, new relationships were established, old relationships encouraged and laughter was enjoyed.

JULY UPDATE ON PRESCHOOL IN HAITI

It has been a difficult time the past few weeks to post an update on the preschool construction progress.  There have been local internet service issues, issues with our webpage host and certainly the most important issue is the assassination of the Haitian President early on Wednesday July 7th.  Haiti is in great need of prayer!  The prayer requests from our friends are as follows:

            Calm to return

No more senseless loss of life

            Establishment of a government

            Establishment of a Supreme Court

Transportation safety for delivery drivers of critical supplies

            Availability of food and petroleum

Businesses and Banks to open with security

Gang violence across the country will cease

            Confession and repentance

Visiting with our partners, they have assured us that the people in Drouin are doing as well as can be expected.   The building of the school is still under way, BUT at a much slower pace. Below is the last photo before travel became difficult if not impossible!

MAY UPDATE OF HAITI PRESCHOOL CONSTRUCTION

We PRAISE GOD for the work that is being accomplished on the school in Drouin, Haiti! This school is being built in the middle of a former rice field. The field formerly produced physical food, it will now be the solid ground for this building that will be used to feed the minds, futures and eternal souls of students. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Chris, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. We ask God to do immeasurably more than we can ask or think to call many to Himself in salvation and to raise up Godly Seed to change this generation and the country of Haiti for the Glory of God!

PRESCHOOL CONSTRUCTION PROGRESS

Construction on the preschool building in Drouin, Haiti is well underway. We are thankful to God for the resources and the skilled men working on the building! We would ask you to join us in praying the work continues to go smoothly and for God to provide the necessary financial resources to complete the building. The construction process was delayed for 15 months due to Covid-19 . With this delay, construction supplies have escalated in Haiti just as they have here in the United States. If you would like to participate in helping complete this building through financial support please send us an email at stepstones.info@yahoo.com for further information. We hope you enjoy the photos of the progress below!

DISASTER RELIEF IN LAKE CHARLES, LOUISIANA MARCH 2021

Four adults and nine youth from BELIEVERS BAPTIST CHURCH Emory, Texas served in Lake Charles March 7-11, 2021.  This group had a mind to work and completed eight work orders in four days.  The work orders ranged from cutting trees and moving to the road, demolishing portable buildings while salvaging stored items, to mucking out two houses, to mucking out numerous rooms at Mount Olive Baptist Church.  During our time in Lake Charles we were able to share the gospel and pray with eight people.  During the evening the team met for a time of Bible Study were we discussed living out our identity as a follower of Christ.  Only God has the authority to give us our identity since He is our Creator and Owner.  We discussed Psalm 24:1, The earth is the Lord’s, and all it contains, The world, and those who dwell in it. We studied Ephesians chapter 1 and what God says is true about those who believe Him.  In this chapter, God says we are blessed with every spiritual blessing, chosen, adopted, beloved, redeemed, forgiven, and sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise.  When we start with God our lives have meaning, purpose and value.  When we allow self and the world to identify us, we are soon driven off the path of our true identity and suffer the fateful consequences.  Praises to God for the work He did in and through the team.

DAY TO CELEBRATE

Today, March 1, 2021 is a day of CELEBRATION!  Leading into our tenth year of ministry the Stepstones Board of Directors were led to focus on raising the funds to add a preschool building to the school in Drouin, Haiti.  As 2019 unfolded, God moved on the hearts of His people to contribute to the budget needed to construct the building.  By the end of 2019 the funds had been donated and we celebrated God’s provision!  The goal was to begin the building process in January 2020.  As the new year began there were political problems that arose preventing the start of the project.  Then Covid-19 came along and shut down travel within the country as well as into and out of Haiti.  With all that being said, TODAY, ground was broken and the construction began on the preschool addition!  We Praise God for the provisions and opportunity to begin this process! There are only two things that can change a culture for the good and they are the Gospel of Jesus Christ and Education.  When this project is complete there will many more students allowed to attend the school, therefore more opportunity to share the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, provide education to this community and for these students to receive at least one hot meal per day during the week.  We will provide updates of the progress every few weeks as we receive photos from our partners in Haiti.  Please take time to offer a prayer of thanksgiving and for watch care over the workers.  The building is being built on the land in the photo.

HAITI PRESCHOOL UPDATE

Last year was a great adventure as we watched God touch hearts to supply the finances needed to add the preschool building in Drouin, Haiti. Now, half way through 2020, we are on yet another adventure waiting for God to open up Haiti for travel. With Covid-19 and political unrest, movement into and throughout Haiti is limited and dangerous. The Board of Directors and our partners on the ground in Haiti have agreed in prayer to wait on God to provide a more favorable time to begin the construction of the preschool. How can you pray you may ask? .

Ask God to bring an end to the spread of Covid-19.

Ask God to bring peace, cooperation and unity between government and the people.

Ask God to provide food and jobs for the people.

Ask God to provide wisdom for His timing and His ways.

Pray for the kids that will be attending school on this property.

Ask God to save the children and their families.

Ask God to produce an abundance of spiritual fruit much like the fruit and vegetables presently being

harvested on this soil.
